What we look for

People

We are looking for genuine graduate entrepreneurs (please visit out FAQ page for definitions) with credible business ideas who are committed to establishing themselves in the UK. At least one member of the founding team (ideally 2-3 members, though we can support up to 5) should be from outside the UK.

We will provide you with investment, support, office accommodation and training through some of the best providers in the UK, as well as help obtaining your graduate entrepreneur visa.  We will also help you build your contacts and network and give you the expert help and advice to enable you to succeed with turning your idea into reality.

Business ideas

Business ideas from most sectors are welcome. There are some sectors that are not eligible as certain industries are not permissible under the SEIS and UK visa programmes. Ineligible businesses include land development, coal production, shipbuilding and operating hotels. See here for the whole list, but nearly all start up ideas are likely to be fine.

For examples of ideas that were supported on the Pilot Programme, which ran from 2014 to 2016, have a look at our case studies.

Businesses should:

  • be early stage with the ability to easily relocate or form in the UK
  • have a clear process to demonstrate the concept, or have already done so
  • be able to demonstrate the potential for rapid scaling and long-term sustainability
  • offer the potential of significant economic and job benefits to the UK if successful
